Hundreds of Green Bay high schoolers walk out to protest ICE: 'Make our voices heard'

Описание: Green Bay high schoolers walked out of class in protest of the Trump administration's immigration enforcement crackdown. Around 500 students from all four of Green Bay's public high schools paraded through the downtown streets, chanting and armed with signs and flags. "I think it's really important to go out and protest so your voice is heard, and you’re able to speak out for those who can't," adds Jestina Hammer, a sophomore at West High School. The school walkout eventually ended with students lining the Main Street Bridge. In a statement, the Green Bay Area Public School District said it "recognizes that students have a right to express themselves under the First Amendment; therefore, we have asked each school principal to communicate with their student leaders to determine if and what activities students are planning." The district went on to say that students who walked out of class without a parent or guardian calling to excuse them would receive an unexcused absence.
