Residents of Kurudu and Orozo, satellite communities under the Abuja Municipal Area Council, are sounding the alarm over growing refuse dumps that have spilt onto major roads, disrupting movement and threatening public health. What began as designated collection points has expanded into large dumpsites, where decomposing waste produces foul odours and attracts rodents and flies. Despite repeated appeals to the environmental authorities, residents say the situation has worsened, raising concerns about possible disease outbreaks as the dry season deepens.
