In this video, we play the same tune through 4 different patches, played to compare the MiniMoog Model D (2022 Reissue), Moog Model D App for MacOS, and Cherry Audio Miniverse for MacOS. Can you identify which is playing each part? The two VSTs can be had for $30-$40. The real hardware currently goes for $4999.00. While there are clearly differences in the synth engines, and the apps tend to cheat by adding reverb and delay instead of maintaining a dry signal, does the tactile feel of a real hardware synth justify the 125x cost? Or do the apps sound "good enough?" We'll leave that decision up to you.
