COG gets Gnarly and heads to Deeside. Tarland is home to Aberdeenshire's only purpose built trail centre. Crowdfunded over COVID times, to the tune of £1M is has long, flowing, pisted trails with some rocky features, drops, jumps and tables - there's something for every ability.
After lunch we headed to Aboyne, to the trails in Birsemore Forest. The long water tower fire road climb eventually tops out at the mast (all the best trails start at a mast) for Master Blaster, a well known slice of Aberdeenshire rock. It's a red trail, but it has its moments, and is actually pretty hard to keep the flow going, particularly after a morning at Tarland.
