Cutting and Shaping Slate

One of the great things that I really enjoy about working inside my shop, is that I've got a whole lot of different types of tools. They range from sandblaster, drill press, handrills, drill bits, painting, vinyl cutter, tile saw and the list goes on and on.

I've been making these slate signs over the last few years that have become quite popular among friends and family. So I'm quite often asked to make one of the signs for a family member that wants to give it as a housewarming gift or and whatever the case may be.
These are really easy to make and they only require a couple parts as far as putting everything together. That would be a 12 x 12 pieces slate tile that you can buy from your big-box store, and some 3/8 rope that was bought also at the big-box store.
Of course having a vinyl cutter, a program to design the vinyl cuts and the other tools that are necessary to make this all work is helpful.
But all in all most people have a lot of the stuff around their shops and that makes this quite easy to make actually.
