Samsung Electronics dominates S. Korea's smartphone market in 2023

Despite Apple gaining traction with younger buyers, Samsung Electronics has kept its place as South Korea’s most popular smartphone brand in 2023.
According to data released by tech market research firm Counterpoint Research on Tuesday, Samsung Electronics held a market share of 73 percent while Apple only just surpassed the 25 percent mark for the first time ever.
Samsung displayed its dominance in the local market despite global smartphone sales falling by eight percent compared to the year before.
The release of the Galaxy S23 last year meant that the domestic tech giant sold over 1-point-zero-9 million phones during the preorder period.
