Meanwhile, Actor Dileep's anticipatory bail in the case was again postponed to 22 January 2022, Saturday. The petitions of six persons, including Dileep, have been postponed. Along with the first accused Dileep, his brother Anoop, sister's husband Suraj and friend Sarath have also filed a similar petition. The Kerala High Court on Tuesday posted for January 21 the hearing of the anticipatory bail plea of actor Dileep in the actress abduction case. When the matter came up for hearing, the prosecution sought more time to complete the probe in the light of fresh developments and the court posted the case for Friday. Now, this is the fourth time that the court is postponing the plea in the wake of fresh developments and as on the previous three occasions, the court ordered that there should be no arrest of the actor, till then.
A day before, the prosecution asked to take Dileep into custody and question him to prove the truth in the case of attacking the actress. The prosecution opposed the anticipatory bail pleas of Dileep and his co-accused in the case of threatening the investigating officers. The prosecution in its report submitted to the high court said that it is the first time in history that criminals were given quotation for sexual abuse and that granting anticipatory bail to Dileep, who has a huge influence in the society, would affect the case. This is an unusual case, they claimed.
Dileep had earlier been charged with conspiracy to intimidate investigating officers. The change was made after the statements of Balachandra Kumar and the complainant, DySP Baiju Paulose were recorded. Investigating officers submitted the report to the court. Defendants, including Dileep, alleged that the investigating officers were settling personal grievances and that the case was fabricated. Section 302 has been added against Dileep for murder. He has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
