Australian Bird Vet Specialist Dr Ross Perry brings you the second video clip of a midnight consultation for Blue Bird, a blue quaker parrot who became acutely ill that evening. In this video clip you can watch how Dr Ross Perry calms Blue Bird for collecting blood for pathology tests, how he gives Blue Bird an intramuscular injection of a long acting antibiotic for suspected chlamydia and how he collects a sample of cells and bacteria etc from his throat by performing a crop wash. Unfortunately the following recording was faulty and unusable. Dr Ross Perry performed a Gram Stain on crop and fecal smears and did not find evidence of bacterial infection in the alimentary canal. Blue Bird was given supportive care pending the results of further investigations.
