Lawrence illustrates the sciences for a more just and sustainable world. His contributions have been highlighted by Fast Company, Reddit's front page, Medium's original flagship publication "Matter", and Hacker Noon. His data visualizations have been read and discussed by half a million people, and university professors include his contributions in their graduate course curriculum on data analysis, data visualization, and presentation. He's a 7 Under 30 alumnus of Florida State University, where he completed his bachelor's degrees in Biological Science and Studio Art.
In this walk, Lawrence combines his interdisciplinary background to confront a design flaw in the ubiquitous purple election map. By accounting for the way the human brain perceives purple hues, he proposes a "neutralized" map, which conveys red-blue vote-margins more clearly than the traditional purple map can.
