ISUZU MU-X 3 Year Review! I have travelled 90,000km in my 2018 Isuzu Mu-x in 3 years. I have also modified the vehicle to suit my needs and be the ultimate tourer. This is a honest review on how the vehicle and the accessories have held up over the last 3 years of use.

The 2018 Isuzu MU-X has a 3.0l turbo diesel 4jj1-TXC engine which is a great motor with adequate power and torque. The vehicle is fitted with EGR and DPF systems to regulate emissions. It is also as independent front suspension and a live axle coil sprung rear axle. I have fitted all of the accessories myself and enjoy modifying and upgrading things on the vehicle to suit my needs.

This Review goes through the entire vehicle and shows you how I have customized things. It is a honest review of the 2018 Isuzu Mu-x and outlines some of the things I like and some of the things I don't like about the vehicle.

The Isuzu Mu-x is fitted with a custom rear drawer system with a brass monkey fridge drawer and titan single slide out storage drawer. This setup has been working great due to how easy it is to use. I have a dual battery system located on the back of the drawer system that charges by a Redarc BCDC1225D Smart charger and my battery is a Giant 85ah AGM. This setup is perfect for my needs as I usually just run the fridge and some LED camp lights off the battery.

The Isuzu Mu-x 4wd has a part time 4wd system that has a dial selector button. You can change between 2WD, 4WD and 4WD Low range at the flick of the switch. The vehicle has traction control but it is not very effective in off-road situations. I have fitted a Harrop E-locker to the rear diff of the vehicle and this has completely changed the off-road capability of the vehicle. The rear diff-lock ensures drive goes to both rear wheels when engaged, this means that you have 100% traction in the rear end all of the time.

Isuzu have replaced multiple items on my vehicle over the last 3 years. Including, Drivers seat base, head unit, fuel cap, front body mount, 4 turbo chargers, windscreen cowling trims, Transmission software update. All of these items have been covered under manufacturers warranty and I have not had to pay for the repairs. The vehicle has been reasonably reliable as in it has never broken down on me and left me stranded.

Driving the Isuzu Mu-x around town and highway driving I usually average around 10l per 100Km and get around 550-600km out of each tank before the fuel light comes on. I always fill up before the fuel light comes on just to ensure there is enough diesel in the tank to cool the injectors correctly.

Overall the Isuzu Mu-x has been the perfect vehicle for my family and my needs. It has been reliable and gets great economy. It is also very safe and comfortable to travel longs distances in the Mu-x.

I have fitted every modification to the Isuzu MU-X myself and really enjoy filming and teaching you guys how to do the same to your own 4x4 vehicles. The modifications I have done are listed below -
