A Night of Enchanting Music at PizzaExpress Holborn

On 12 October 2025, audiences at PizzaExpress Holborn were treated to a night of spellbinding live music with Leon Garner and The Magical Export Import Band — a rare double bill that fulfilled every promise of magic, melody, and old-school glamour.

Leon Garner — Intimate, Exquisite, Unfiltered

The evening opened with a rare intimate set from Leon Garner, widely recognised as one of London’s leading jazz vocalists. Known for sold-out shows at Cadogan Hall and residencies across Europe’s most exclusive venues, Garner stepped away from his full band for this special performance. Joined only by piano, he delivered a stripped-back set that revealed his voice and narrative style in their purest form — a quiet, concentrated masterclass that held the room.

The Magical Export Import Band — Golden-Age Grandeur, Reimagined

The second half saw the room light up under the sound of the 9-piece Magical Export Import Band, a polished and soulful leap back into the golden age of song. Drawing on velvet-voiced classics such as That Old Black Magic, Smoke Gets in Your Eyes, and Fools Rush In, they offered faithful arrangements enriched with subtle modern electronics — respectful of the past but vibrantly of the present. Graduates of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and fresh from performing alongside Miley Cyrus at the immersive London event Lost Presents Something Beautiful (June 2025), the band proved exactly why they are rising fast.

The night delivered on every expectation: timeless repertoire, superb musicianship, and the rare pleasure of two world-class acts in one intimate room. Those who were there witnessed something truly memorable.
