This piece was inspired by the motion picture called The Hill starring Dennis Quaid which is the true story of Rickey Hill, the son of a traveling pastor who overcomes physical obstacles to pursue his dream of playing baseball.
This song was birthed from a single moment in the movie where the pastor and his family - car packed up, leaving town, little to nothing to their name and he catches word from someone in the community that a woman from town was just badly beaten by her husband and was asked to swing by and check on her.
That moment that the pastor and the woman exchanged is what help bring this song to life. Nothing much either of them could do but just be in that space and moment with each other.
