3rd September - thirty years ago - Britain is at War with Nazi Germany. In picture and Sound we remember the terrible yet exhilarating climax to the long hot summer of 1939. Possibly the most memorable date in modern history - the end of an era, the end of all those centuries when man could go to war in the expectation of victory without his own as well as his adversaries annihilation.
