The End of Netflix? Netflix's First Ever Drop in Subscribers

Netflix has announced it's lost subscribers in the first 3 months of the year. It's the first time in the company's history this has happened. So where's everyone going and is this the end of Netflix? When it comes to streaming, we're a bit spoiled for choice at the moment. But wind the clock back a bit, and Netflix reigned supreme. Ok it wasn't that long ago, in fact between 2019 and 2020, Netflix had the highest growth in value of any company in the world. But things are changing. For the first time ever, the streaming service has lost subscribers in the first quarter of the year, and they reckon they'll lose another 2 million in the next few months. Why? Well, these days there are more streamers competing for eyeballs, price increases have turned some people off, and Netflix has pulled the plug in Russia after the country invaded Ukraine. Netflix also says about 100 million people are being a bit sneaky and using someone else's account instead of paying for Netflix themselves. Netflix says it's going to crackdown on password sharing, which will mean 1 account per house, and that it might even introduce ads to the platform. But with more than 220 million subscribers, they're still easily the biggest streaming company in the world, and many experts agree that Netflix, and streaming in general, won't be ending any time soon.

ISO RULES CHANGE
There have been some massive changes to COVID rules in NSW and Victoria! As of this Friday, close contacts will no longer need to isolate at home for seven days! The states have slightly different rules but the basic idea is that close contacts can leave the house but will still need to do regular rapid tests, wear masks in certain situations and avoid high-risk spots like hospitals and aged care facilities.

LIONEL MESSI COMING TO MELBOURNE
Lionel Messi is coming to Melbourne! Messi's Argentina will be taking on Neymar's Brazil in a special one-off match in June at the MCG! The last team these two faced off in Melbourne was back in 2017 and a whopping 95,000 people rocked up to watch Argentina win 1-0.

Ash Barty's announced she's swapping her tennis racquet for a golf club! Barty will be joining a bunch of other sporting icons from around the globe to compete in the Icons Series in the US. It's a special 2-team event that pits the USA against the Rest of the World.

DARWIN COUCH SURFING
And now for some speed, spray-paint and sofas! It's Darwin's annual couch surfing race! It looks like a ton of fun, and it's all for a good cause too, raising awareness for youth homelessness!

Welcome to the world of extreme car jumping in the UK. Where a bunch of smashed up cars are lined up so that other cars can jump over them. Car after car attempted the jump, but not everyone made it cleanly over.

HARRY STYLES NEW RECORD
Harry Styles has smashed the world record for the most streams in a single day for his new song "As It Was". Spotify says it was streamed 16,103,849 million times worldwide topping the charts in 34 countries including Australia.

ZOO POPSICLES
And finally, animals at Merida zoo in Mexico have been smashing icy popsicles as a way of beating the heat! Take a guess at what flavour this one is. Raspberry? Eh! Wrong. Blood. Come on, they're jaguars.
