In this tutorial, I walk you step by step through painting a Pumpkin Craw pattern on an RK55 (Dive 55) rock crawler crankbait. This bait has quickly become one of my favorites thanks to how true it runs compared to the original, and it’s been a great seller.
We start with a white base coat, lay down fluorescent orange, and then tone it back using sepia, burnt sienna, and browns to build a realistic crawfish look. I also demonstrate my craw pattern technique using stencils, dots, and craw lines, plus a gold brown color shift to dull the bait and add depth and translucency in the water.
This is also my first full project using the Creos PS270 airbrush, and I share my honest impressions, trigger control feel, and how it performs spraying acrylics on plastic lures.
To finish it off, we add purple angry eyes for contrast, giving the bait a unique, almost Halloween-style Pumpkin Craw finish.
