e-tickets for 2023 ODI World Cup, 7 to 8 centers for physical tickets redemption: BCCI secretary Jay Shah
ODI World Cup 2023: BCCI secretary Jay Shah also said that the Indian cricket board and the International Cricket Council will soon announce the sale of tickets for the showpiece 50-over tournament, starting October 5 in Ahmedabad.Ticket holders need to procure physical tickets and show them at entry gates at stadia across the country during the 2023 World Cup. Indian cricket board (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah confirmed after a meeting on Thursday that there will be no provision for e-tickets even though tickets for the marquee 50-over tournament will be sold online. The lack of e-tickets at certain venues during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 led to crowing outside the stadia as fans found it difficult to procure the physical copy of tickets. However, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said around 7 to 8 centers will be created for procuring the physical ticket copy and arrangements would be made to ensure a smooth experience for fans during the ODI World Cup.
Jay Shah confirmed the developments after BCCI top brass met with the state associations who are hosting matches during the ODI World Cup in 2023 in New Delhi on Thursday, July 27. The board secretary explained that it's not possible to have e-tickets for the World Cup but the BCCI is hopeful of having a system in place for bilaterals first and then take it forward.
We can't use e-tickets this time around but will ensure to have physical tickets redemption at 7-8 centers well in advance. But physical ticket needs to be retained," Jay Shah, who also shed light on the potential rescheduling of a few matches, told reporters
