Topic – Group Processes and Work Teams - The Differences Between Work Group and Work Team – I/O Psychology Series
Communicational skills become increasingly critical as more groups are used in organizational settings. Work Group vs Work Team - Work Group is a formal organizational collection of employees who have a common task but whose work does not depend on the other members of the group. Work Team is a formal organizational collection of employees in which each person’s work affects the other members’ work in terms of completing the task (Hrumm).
Formal Groups vs Informal Groups - All organizations have both formal and informal groups. In this learning video lecture we will review the differences as well as go over Tuckman’s Five Stages of Group Development, the Five Steps to Effective Group Decision Making, and how to avoid groupthink in the decision-making process.
