She was one of the original Beauty Queens, a pioneer of the cosmetics industry, whose products gave women at the turn of the twentieth century a new self-confidence. Eila Hershon and Roberto Guerra trace the career of this high-flyer who, shortly before her death in 2004, received the highest civilian honor in the US – the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
