MP quizzes FCDO officials over Peter Mandelson Appointment

During a session on the Foreign Affairs Committee, Aphra Brandreth, MP for Chester South and Eddisbury, questioned the permanent under secretary at the FCDO, Sir Oliver Robbins, regarding the appointment of Peter Mandelson.
Aphra explained,
"Peter Mandelson's behaviour before being appointed UK Ambassador to the US was all in the public domain, as I set out during my questions to the FCDO in November.
"The behaviour was deplorable, and he should never have been made our Ambassador. Yet, despite this public information, the Prime Minister went ahead with the appointment anyway.
"Peter Mandelson has now resigned his Labour Party membership, but the Prime Minister should have acted. He has consistently looked the other way.
We need a full investigation.
"Watch my questions to the permanent under secretary at the FCDO back in November last year as part of the Foreign Affairs Committee."
