EastEnders legend Anita Dobson "came in at the 11th hour" to replace the original Angie Watts

Anita Dobson has revealed how close she was to not playing her iconic role of Angie Watts in EastEnders, as another actor was originally cast as the character.

Dobson was speaking on the EastEnders 40th anniversary special of Lacey Turner's podcast We Started Here when she explained that her casting took place just days before filming began.
