Dr. Samantha Burgess warns that rapid atmospheric warming risks triggering tipping points, such as the destabilization of the Greenland Ice Sheet. If it were to melt entirely, sea levels could rise by approximately 7 meters (23 feet), submerging major coastal cities, disrupting global weather systems, and causing widespread crop failures. Most ports would also be lost to rising waters. Fortunately, we have the tools to cut emissions quickly - we just need to follow the science.
