Описание:
A song that the Russian soldiers sing while marching to Austerlitz. It is a traditional folk song called "Ah Vy, Seni, Moi Seni" and became well-known in recent years thanks to Sergei Bondarchuk's epic film "War and Peace" (1966-1967).
From the epic film War and Peace (Part I: Andrei Bolkonsky), directed by Sergei Bondarchuk, based on the classic novel by Leo Tolstoy.
English translation:
"Hey, my front porch, front porch,
new-made entrance to my home,
Brand-new front porch
All of maple and of lattice handiwork,
Through this front porch I will pass,
Arm-in-arm with my sweet lass,
Here comes a fair maid outside
the new-made gate of lattice handiwork,
She would let a falcon out,
From her right sleeve, he'll flutter out,
Fly on, falcon, high and far,
Go on flying high and far,
Go on flying high and far,
Very high and very far,
to my dear hometown,
To my dear hometown,
To my dear hometown."
Film footage taken from the 2019 Blu-ray released by the Criterion Collection.
