STORYLINE:
Relatives and friends of those who died in a series of suicide bombings in London on July 7 paid an emotional visit on Sunday to the sites where their loved ones died.
Over 230 mourners were able to visit after requesting access from the police earlier in the day, at a briefing on investigations into the bombings which left 56 people dead.
People bearing flowers were seen entering Edgware Road tube station, where six people died: the Piccadilly Line between Russell Square and King's Cross stations, where 26 people died; as well as Aldgate where seven died and Tavistock Road, scene of the Number 30 bus bomb that left 13 dead.
But Sunday's briefing, held at a Family Assistance Centre set up in the wake of the terror attacks, proved too painful for many of the relatives.
Many were seen leaving the centre in tears.
Supt Annette Wightman, in charge of the Family Assistance centre, said senior investigating officers had been on hand to brief all the families: among them, Peter Clarke, Head of the Anti Terrorist branch.
She added that some of the families who lost loved ones had shown concern about the investigation. Others had been openly supportive.
Dr Andrew Reid, Inner North London coroner also met with the families.
