Tripura is one among the Eight Seven Sisters States of North East India and the third smallest State in the country bordered by Bangladesh on its North, South and West and the Indian States of Assam and Mizoram in its East.
The name of the State has been derived from 'Tripura Sundari' - the presiding deity of the Land. Tripura was an erstwhile princely state ruled by the Maharajas of the Manikya Dynasty.
Places of tourist interest at Tripura are Ujjayanta Palace and Museum, Neer Mahal Palace, Unakoti Rock Cut Inscriptions and Heritage Site, Tripura Sundari Temple, Border of India and Bangladesh, Clouded Leopard National Park, Rubber Plantations of Tripura, Rudrasagar Lake, etc.
