REVIEW
Our Campmates
This year’s camp was another huge mixed bag of characters that made the experience even more memorable. Without name-dropping every legend here, the turnout for our group was fantastic. The now-established optional early entry day meant an easy car park meetup but disastrous initial entry! That absolutely sucked 3.5 hours in the queue in that heat was awful.

Staff & Security
Once again, the staff and security in my opinion absolutely nailed it. They got our humour, partied with us when they could, and kept things safe without killing the vibe. It’s still miles better than my experiences at Download, and the Midgard campsite atmosphere thrived because of it. Shoutout to 114 who was awesome addition to our camp while dealing with a neighbour. And that situation was dealt with very well by the team ejecting someone who was inappropriate to a young female guest. – (I cant put this in words on YT but it is in an episode).

Vendors & PDQ Machines
Finally, we’ve reached the point where every vendor I visited showed prices up-front, both at bars and stalls. No more “accidental” overcharges — something I’ve caught more than once in years past. A small change, but a big win for transparency. – although I was charged 3 different prices for Jagerbombs and bags of Ice over the weekend.

The Optional Extra Day
It’s perfect for catching up with mates and easing into the festival before the chaos begins. Last year It reduced queue stress, keeps local traffic flowing, and allows the crew to settle in properly. Keeping it optional is still the right call. But everyone seemed to want to do it this year.

Merch Queues
Absolute shambles!! Arena Day 1 still brought some brutal queues for click-and-collect. Several items sold out instantly, which is frustrating but also a sign of just how hyped the merch has become. There were people who queued for hours to get a shirt that was advertised above, but no information relayed that they weren’t available until the opening festival day. That isn’t good enough communication! And because the security take peoples water bottles upon entry to the arena, forcing the punter to take a smaller sized empty bottle in near 30 degree heat it creates huge water queues of over an hour for those who need it.

Bin Jousting
It’s still here, but not quite in its prime. Keeping Top Hat Bill & the team involved was a great nod to tradition, but the magic’s faded a little. With some tweaks, I’m sure it can be resurrected to its former chaotic glory. Even attempting it for the Midgard faithful is more than most festivals would do, so it’s still a partial win.
But the “Illegal” Jousts held literally next to it proved that this just don’t work with the same excitement.

YouTube Collaborations
One of the absolute highlights was connecting with other creators in the scene — Mead and Metal, The Alt Couple, Dippy Doughnutters, Pete Devlin, Simon Bond, Chidsvids & The Alt Pulse Project, Earth Scarred and probably more!!! Drinks were shared, laughs were had, and stories were swapped.
