I was inspired to arrange this traditional tune after hearing a lovely vocal rendition by Lumiere. The 2 women are from Dingle, Ireland, which I visited recently. Of course it's also been done by many people, including Joan Baez, the Carter Family and Peter, Paul, and Mary and many more. I've always thought the song was Irish, but apparently it is from Appalachia (tho there's a strong Appalachia/Ireland connection, and there is a similar song with Scottish/Irish roots).
I arranged my version in DADGAD tuning, and the 5th fret capo adds to the delicate sound and places it close to the key Lumiere used (they're a half step higher).
Recorded on a Kent Hamblin Small Jumbo guitar.
