As part of the IVF cycle, patients are given FSH which stimulates the ovaries to allow all the possible follicles and eggs to develop. The good news is that this often allows us to capture as many healthy eggs as possible in one cycle, giving a patient a better chance at a healthy embryo, later.

Sometimes, ovaries over-react to the FSH and the result is Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (or OHSS). I’ve invited Dr. Nichole Barker of Seattle Reproductive Medicine to join me to talk all about OHSS.
