The second program in the In Search of Truth series, "Truth in Education" is a panel discussion on the role of truth and truthfulness in education. Members of our student council invite Dr. Kelly Kent, neuroscientist and member of the Culver City School Board, and Catherine McTamaney, associate professor of the Practice of Education in the Department of Teaching and Learning at Vanderbilt University, to discuss the social responsibility of teachers, the sociopolitical context of teaching methods and teaching objectives, and the importance of critical thinking in times of fake news, alternative facts, and conspiracy theories.
Conceived in conjunction with the exhibition "Questionable History," the Wende Museum presents a monthly virtual program, In Search of Truth, co-organized and co-presented by an eight-person Student Council. This series explores the concept of truth in an era of fake news, culture wars, conspiracy theories, and alternative facts.
