As I ventured through the ancient streets of Ciminna, accompanied by my wife Jocelyn, stories of my father's childhood flooded back. The curving and sloping stone streets whispered stories of a bygone era, transporting me to a different time. This journey allowed me to connect with my family's heritage in a profound way.

During our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting Tony, a kind-hearted local whose beautiful house overlooks the town from the hills. We also formed connections with other locals and various store owners who shared ties to my family, adding depth and meaning to our exploration. We even talked about when Martin Scorsese visited town, as his grandparents are also from here. This was another surreal moment, as Scorsese has been one of the greatest inspirations for me as a filmmaker!

Later, along the very street where my father was born, my wife and I paid a heartfelt tribute to my late grandmother, Rosalie, and aunt Mary, both of whom passed away two years prior to our visit. Nanna, as we affectionately called her, left Ciminna with her immediate family in 1955 and never had the chance to return. However, this morning served as a poignant moment to honor their memories.
