Painted Faces - an AU Merlin trailer (Arthur/Gwen)

Dedicated to starry_laa on her birthday.

So several months ago (I'm talking summer here) starry_laa asked me if I would make an AU video/trailer based on her absolutely AMAZING fanfic, "Painted Faces Fill the Places You Can't Reach". I was quite nervous over accepting as neither trailers nor AU videos are really my forte, but it sounded like a great way to challenge my vidding abilities, and God knows I would do anything for that fic. So I agreed, and for the past three months I've been toiling away at this video, desperately hoping I could finish it in time for her birthday. Somehow it all worked out (and by that I mean I finished it...still feel incredibly anxious over the quality of the vid), and now here we are!

Because this video is VERY AU it's important that you read this little synopsis before we watch. There were some aspects of starry_laa's story that are VERY important to the plot that I just couldn't manipulate in. So here's the basic story line (without giving away spoilers!): "An AU fic in which Igraine, Gorlois, and Balinor live on, effectively altering the destinies of their children" (from starry_laa's summary of the fic). Arthur is left in charge of the kingdom, and he is joined in Camelot by Morgana and her father, Gorlois. Both have magic (because Igraine never died magic remains legal), but while Arthur and Morgana get along, Gorlois and Arthur disagree over many policies. After Morgana realizes that her father plans to use dark magic to overthrow Arthur, she tells Arthur, who promptly banishes Gorlois. Igraine follows him. (It is at this point that my video/trailer begins, although it mixes in some moments that occur earlier, such as the mourning of Uther.) Meanwhile, Gwen meets Morgana, who, recognizing Gwen's importance, asks her to be her handmaiden. Consequently, Gwen starts running into Arthur, and a bond forms. Gwen introduces Arthur to her childhood best friend, Merlin, a representative of the magical community, and when Merlin meets Morgana they connect over their gifts. Eventually Arthur and Merlin go in search of Gorlois, but their search is fruitless. Hopefully the rest of the video is self-explanatory. And everyone, PLEASE read the amazing fic that inspired this vid. I promise you won't be disappointed! Again, happy birthday, starry_laa!! I hope this didn't disappoint. Masking isn't my strong-suit, so apologies if it looks at all awkward!
