Bottom Line:
Marriage done God’s way is wonderful. God’s Word teaches that men and women are equal in dignity and worth before God, yet distinct and complementary in their roles, especially in marriage.

Intro: Important to understand God’s full picture of marriage in any biblical study of it!! Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:1-5; Ephesians 5:22-35; 1 Peter 3:1-7; 1 Corinthians 7

1. God calls wives to a willing, Jesus-glorifying submission. 1 Peter 3:1-2; Ephesians 5:22-24
A. Submission is an act of trust in God’s authority
B. God uses godly conduct as a powerful testimony
for Christ.. 1 Peter 3:2
2. God prioritizes inner Godliness over external
beauty! 1 Peter 3:3-4; Col. 3:22-4:1
3. Complementary roles are rooted in God’s
design, not culture! 1 Peter 3:5-6
4. God calls husbands to Christlike, sacrificial
servant leadership!1 Peter 3:7; Eph 4:15;29

A. “Understanding way” (v. 7) –
Godly two-way open, edifying communication:

Components of Christ-like Communication:
1. Pray for God’s intervention! Rom. 12:17-19

2. Examine your heart! Colossians 3:13

3. Address the issue asap! Ephesians 4:26

4. Confront humbly & under control! Eph. 4:31
5. Extend grace in your response/plan of action
