Shad Fishing on the Roanoke River in Weldon North Carolina (Spring 2023)

Описание: Shad fishing in North Carolina is a beloved tradition. Every spring, thousands of anglers flock to places like the Roanoke River, the Tar River, and the Neuse River as they are known for their abundance of shad. Shad are a type of herring that migrate up the Roanoke River and other tributaries from the Atlantic Ocean each spring to spawn. For some they are a delicacy, especially their roe.

In this video, Brian and Jim make their way to Weldon, NC to experience what some call March “shadness.” The trip did not disappoint. As you see in the video, many fish were caught just a few hours before dark and several were lost. The bait of choice today was the Jack Slap made by Catch Outdoors. Link below. Get Out Fishing was born out of a long time friendship. Jim and Brian grew up fishing in Tennessee and moved to North Carolina in 1996. North Carolina is a fisherman’s paradise. From central North Carolina where we live, we have access to all kinds of fishing. Saltwater fishing can be done along the coast, and freshwater fishing can be done in various lakes and rivers around the state along with trout fishing in the mountain streams of Western North Carolina. No matter what type of fishing we are doing, we are continually learning and we love to share what we learn about fishing with others. For us, fishing is about community and that is what we hope to create with Get Out Fishing.
