Why I DON'T Recommend Birding in Laos

Описание: 📌 I went to Laos with high hopes for some different birds than what I normally see in Thailand — but what I found surprised me.

In this video, I explain why I don’t currently recommend Laos as a birding destination. I also talk about broader travel considerations which may make many people choose Thailand over Laos, even outside of birdwatching.

This isn’t an attack on the people of Laos. It’s an honest look at the reality on the ground — including wildlife pressure, tourism infrastructure, and what travelers should realistically expect.

🌏 Important context

Laos is a beautiful country with kind people and incredible landscapes. Some protected areas still support wildlife, but ongoing pressures — including hunting, trapping, habitat loss, and limited enforcement — make birding challenging in many regions.

My goal is to help travelers and birders set realistic expectations so they can make the best use of their time, money, and energy.
