4. SOUNDBITE (Italian) Alessandra Costante, secretary-general of the Italian Press Federation (FNSI):
"It's an appeal to let journalists into Gaza. Letting them in really means letting them in. Journalists have never been in Gaza. A bit in the West Bank. But international journalists have never been in Gaza, never been in Gaza. Gaza has always been a border for international information."

6. SOUNDBITE (Italian) Alessandra Costante, secretary-general of the Italian Press Federation (FNSI):
"Now, with this ceasefire, there are perhaps more favorable conditions for international journalists to enter Gaza. There is no information colonialism. We don't want to colonize information in Gaza, we don't want to say that international journalists are better, better and more independent than Gazan journalists who have been massacred, have been killed, have been slaughtered by the IDF who wanted to turn off their voices. Let's just say that international journalists can give that vision considered a little more independent, more perhaps detached."
7. Close of leaflet
8. SOUNDBITE (Italian) Vittorio Di Trapani, president of the Italian Press Federation (FNSI):
"We must know that their equipment is under the rubble, so we must contribute to the possibility of giving it back to those who have survived there to be able to start doing the job again. This means continuing the fundraising. One is the one made by the International Federation and the European Federation of Journalists. Money that goes directly to the International Federation fund is then transferred to the Palestinian trade union to allow them to do this. The other campaign, it is in the press kit so I'm not saying anything new, 'Let's raise our voices for Gaza.' This is an initiative that starts from here in Italy raising funds that will then end up, once again, in the fund of the international federation and through them to the Palestinian trade union. I believe that today if we are to show solidarity we must demonstrate it with concrete things. First, the access to go and tell the story. Two, continue to donate and raise funds to restore dignity to those who do this job. And perhaps only in this way will we restore dignity to those who lost their lives to do that job. Thank you."

STORYLINE:
The Italian journalists' union and guild launched an appeal Wednesday urging the government and the European Commission to facilitate independent media access to Gaza.
During a news conference at the Foreign Press Association in Rome, Italian journalists also launched a fundraising campaign to buy new cameras and news gathering equipment for their Palestinian colleagues whose equipment was damaged or destroyed during the war.
Since 7 October 2023, Israel has prevented international journalists from entering Gaza. Some have been allowed in under strict Israeli military supervision.
International media has relied on Palestinian journalists in Gaza, civilians, as well as aid agency staff and medical workers to aid their reporting of the war and aftermath.
