Easy Unicorn Sugar Cookie Decorating

Hi Guys,

Royal Icing is made of confectioner sugar, cream of tartar and egg whites (fresh, pasteurized or dried) to create a hard candy-like surface used in many ways to decorate cookies and cakes. Painting in a hardened royal icing uses variety of brush, food coloring gel based and water/vodka as your liquid.

Painting in royal icing surface is not as easy as painting on a paper or canvass. This process needs a lot of practice and experience since royal icing is moisture/water sensitive. Using vodka /alcohol usually is the best as your liquid combined with gel food colors because it evaporates quickly than water. You also need to completely dry your royal icing before the painting process so it won't leave your surface too blotchy or stale and to have that beautiful watercolor effect painted royal icing.

For this project here are the things I used:

1. Ready made royal icing (flooding and medium consistency)
2. Chefmaster Gel Food Coloring
3. Absolute Vodka or just plain clean drinking water
4. Variety of brushes
5. Cello Sheets ( for cones)
6. Any paint palette
