Описание: We are excited to announce that we continue face-to-face ILEM Istanbul Talks with two doyen scholars Bruce Lawrence and miriam cooke! We will host them at Ilem Terrace Hall with their speeches about “Barzakh Before and Beyond Hegel.”

Barzakh Before and Beyond Hegel

Unlike Hegel’s thesis/ antithesis/ synthesis, barzakh provides a radically different way of dealing with contradictions. Instead of stopping thought, it provides an agonistic approach where there can be a dynamic interaction of opposites without collapse or elimination of one into the other. With both Qur’anic and contemporary examples, they will demonstrate how barzakh functions as a) physical/ metaphysical template, b) metaphor and method, and c) theoretical model. Then, they will offer four applications as
