The fragmented accounts in The Unfinished Tales have been pieced together to make one continuous story. Some background from Durin’s Folk (LOTR Appendices) has been included for context, as both texts are closely linked. J.R.R. Tolkien’s words have been preserved wherever possible. To see the original writings, please explore the aforementioned texts.

The tale required three original sections written by Bluefax to bridge gaps and complete the narrative. Part 6 on the War of the Ring bridges the gap between The Hobbit and the end of LOTR. Parts 1 and 8 introduce and conclude the story. All these sections reference only canonical sources, and are written to written to be congruent with the J.R.R. Tolkien's style.
