Riverview Farm in Dunmore, Co. Galway is owned by Brendan Gildea, who built a biogas plant on his farm to cover the cost of his energy usage.
Brendan is an organic dairy farmer with a 200-cow herd, plus young stock followers and as a result of a European Innovation Project grant, assisted by IrBEA, was able to install a biogas plant to provide energy and hot water on farm.
Agriland visited the farm to find out how the idea came about and what benefits they are seeing on farm already
