Incorrect Reports from Coinbase, Uphold, Kraken, and Gemini

I just want to give a heads-up to all the crypto investors out there: we are seeing a lot of incorrect reports—cost basis reports and income reports—coming from major exchanges like Coinbase, Uphold, Kraken, and Gemini.

📌 Here’s the catch:
It’s the taxpayer’s responsibility to fix these errors before filing their tax return.

If the amounts are small, it might not cause major issues—but it’s still important to make corrections, especially when you amend Form 8949 with data that contradicts what's reported by Coinbase or other platforms.

👉 Pro Tip:
Always attach an explanation report with your amended return. And if I were you, I’d go ahead and download all your CSV files directly from each exchange. We’re seeing these mismatches not only for individuals but also for companies.
