How I fueled my long run
13 weeks to go until my first marathon. Here’s how I fueled my long run:
BEFORE
🔹collagen and electrolytes: I love @rnwy.life to get both in easily.
🔹caffeine
🔹carbs: @zegofoods cinnamon & spice oatmeal and a banana
DURING
🔹gels: I ran 10 miles so time to start testing out gels to get used to eating while running. I tried @humagel and it was good. I only took 1 this run, but will be working towards taking 1 every 30 minutes.
🔹water: I brought a handheld. Next time I’ll add an electrolyte mix.
AFTER
🔹Refuel glycogen stores with carbs
🔹Rebuild muscles with protein
🔹Rehydrate with water and electrolytes. I love sparkling water so @drinklmnt sparkling electrolyte water is a nice treat after a run.
