The first conference in the 2018 British academy series examined the question of challenges to judicial independence in times of crisis. The conference was inspired by attacks at the British judiciary by the press, in the context of Brexit and the "Miller" judgment, but also had a strong international and interdisciplinary dimension. In this video, the former Lord Chief Justice, Lord Thomas of Cmwgiedd, Justice of the UK Supreme Court Lord Kerr of Tonaghmore and Prof Kate Malleson are offering their analysis of the topic. The conference was co-convened by Dr Yvonne McDermott Rees (Swansea University) and Prof Dimitrios Giannoulopoulos (Goldsmiths, University of London and director, 'Britain in Europe' think tank).
Other speakers included:
Dr Daniel Aguirre, University of Greenwich
