This video shows how to repair a Jabsco PAR-MAX water pump by replacing the internal microswitch instead of the full pressure switch assembly.
The official pressure switch kit (Jabsco 16470-0040 / 16470-0060) costs around $50 to $70, but the actual component that usually fails is a simple Omron V-15-2C26-K microswitch that costs about $2.
The awkward part of this repair is not the switch itself, but the way it is installed inside the housing. The wire connectors cannot pass through the slot, so fitting the switch becomes a semi-blind job. I show the practical method that actually works, including:
Aligning the spade connectors without full visibility
Slightly opening the connector entry to guide it onto the terminal
Lifting the wire to improve alignment
Pushing the connector into place and confirming it is seated
Once installed, the only check needed is a simple continuity test to confirm correct operation.
This is a good example of design for manufacturing vs design for repair, and how a very small component can save replacing an expensive assembly.
Parts used:
Omron V-15-2C26-K microswitch - approx $2–3
If your pump runs continuously, won’t shut off, or behaves erratically, this is often the real cause.
In a follow-up video I will show how to add a relay to reduce load on the microswitch and extend its life much further.
