We went the whole summer without going on a date. We spent a lot of time together as a family so I didn’t really think much of the fact that we hadn’t been out together without our kids for at least 2 months. We didn’t really “need” it anyway right?
But because it was creeping in on 3 months of no date and we normally try to go on a date at least once a month we decided ro put something on the calendar and get a sitter. I didn’t realize how much I needed time out with my husband until we were out. It’s like a different part of my brain and personality started working again after being dormant from being in survival mode with 2 toddlers all day everyday. It felt really good to be my husbands girlfriend/wife and not just “mom”. We both really needed it.
It’s easy to let the demands of mom life and family life take over and not make the time for one on one time with your spouse. But it’s so worth it. The center of a happy home is a happy marriage. Our marriage isn’t perfect but we both put in effort for each other. And that makes all the difference. I’m so grateful for my husband. I’m so grateful my kids get to grow up in a home with a happy marriage.
