In this video our scuba expert Mark dives in Daedalus, Egypt.
Daedalus reef is a large wedge shaped reef out in the Red Sea with a very photogenic lighthouse with two jetties reaching out over the reef. The fairly steep wall starts just under the water at about 2m and straight down to 200+m so you need good buoyancy control and depth discipline. The main draw to Daedalus is shark encounters from pelagic species like thresher and oceanic white tips or, when the time is right, shoaling hammerheads, reef sharks and the occasional whale shark can be quite inquisitive for some close encounters and wonderful pictures. The sharks are very sensitive to temperature, water quality and can migrate over huge distances each year and you only have about a one hour window to try and see them.
