Along the River Thames are a series of lion head rings built into the embankment wall.
For over a century, Londoners have used them as an unofficial flood gauge.
If the water reaches the lions’ mouths, London floods.
Thankfully, today the Thames Barrier protects the city — but the lions are still there, quietly watching the river rise and fall.
