On #worldenvironmentday India Power is excited to unveil its new energy storage venture, marking a significant step towards India's target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
India Power partnered with Swiss-based E2S Power to develop the Thermal Energy Storage System (TESS). TESS is a compact, plug-in solution for transforming coal-fired power plants into energy storage facilities. This cost-efficient system maximizes existing infrastructure, removing the need for additional equipment and enabling the flexibilization of traditional thermal power plants.
This initiative aligns with the Government of India’s Make in India campaign, with 60 to 70 percent of TESS components being sourced locally. TESS effectively bridges the gap between renewable and thermal energy storage, allowing thermal plants to incorporate more renewables, thus facilitating a smoother transition to a greener future.
