The Philmont Experience - Primitive Backpacking in New Mexico || High Adventure

Описание: This is a compilation video of the experience I had with my son, (who is an Eagle Scout), 7 boy scouts and 3 adult advisors in the trip of a lifetime to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico in June of 2023. A trip I will never forget!

I had no idea what to expect, this was my first time backpacking out in the wilderness. We have done many primitive camp outings in the past, but never before in the backcountry.

This was quite the challenge! Our itinerary was 12 days, 84 miles, but that was "map" miles, and did not account for the elevation changes, so overall, we hiked a total of 122 miles over the course of 12 days.

The landscape was incredible, with postcard views in every single direction. We also had great weather, no rain except for a little sprinkle here and there, but for the most part, it was dry. Temperatures got up to a hot 90 to 100 degrees during the day, and quickly dropped down to temperatures of around 35 to 50 degrees at night.

We saw an abundance of wildlife, such as, bear, mule deer and pronghorn antelope. Even though the area is known for it's dense population of mountain lions, we did not see any (thankfully)!
