The carb used, is a slide carb for a Nitro car engine. It's fuel linearity is nowhere near what a gasoline engine needs. To circumnavigate this issue, the LS needle is taken out of the equation (turned open a few turns) and fuel metering is done by the main needle. This in turn causes a situation where fuel delivery does not really stay in proportion to air admission.
A restrictor of carefully selected size CAN solve this, by greating a lower pressure at the air intake when the throttle is opened, which in turn increases fuel draw when the throttle is opened. It is a bit of a bandaid solution, but it seems to work well, as the engine was responding better over a greater rtange of load change. However, it causes a richer mixture, which was the reason for cutting this test short. See also next video soon to be uploaded.
