✔️ FEEL FOR STITCHES instead of relying on sight. It can be hard to see your stitches in faux fur. Use your fingers to guide your hook.

✔️ USE A STITCH MARKER at the start of each round to help you keep track of your work. Stitch markers are also helpful to mark your stitches when crocheting parts in place and to mark your eye placement.

✔️ COUNT YOUR STITCHES AS YOU GO — the process may be a bit slower but worth it so you don’t lose track.

✔️ KEEP NOTES on where you leave off. It can be tricky to count rounds in faux fur — if you take a break leave yourself a note of what round you left off on to avoid frustration.

✔️ PLAN DEDICATED TIME to work on your project. Working in faux fur is slower — lean into the process and don’t feel rushed.

✔️ WORK IN GOOD LIGHTING

✔️ CHOOSE A CALM SETTING — put on your favorite podcast or a comfort show that you can enjoy in the background. Choose a quiet time like nap time or after the minis are in bed. You’ll need all your brain space to focus on your work.

✔️ CHARGE A LITTLE MORE for your faux fur makes. The materials are more expensive and the process takes more time. Don’t forget to value yourself in the process!

❌ DON’T USE FAUX FUR FOR YOUR VERY FIRST PROJECT — it takes practice! You don’t want to add the challenge of faux fur until you are pretty confident in your amigurumi skills.
