As a facelift surgeon, I’m often asked: “Should I get Sculptra or Radiesse?”

Here’s my breakdown 👇

🔬 Both Are Biostimulatory Fillers—but they behave very differently in the tissue:

✅ Sculptra (Poly-L-Lactic Acid)
• Synthetic material also found in dissolvable surgical sutures
• Stimulates collagen by triggering a gentle inflammatory response
• Stays soft and integrates naturally into the fat layer
• If injected into the right plane, in my hands, its not an issue before or after a facelift surgery and it doesn’t interfere with my facelift dissection

⚠️ Radiesse (Calcium Hydroxyapatite)
• Made of calcium hydroxyapatite which is normally found in bones in the body
• Stimulates dense collagen formation but may leave behind firm nodules
• In my experience, these can calcify and make surgical planes harder to lift
• Feels stiff under the skin and can interfere with natural movement after surgery

💬 Why I Choose Sculptra for My Facelift Patients:

Sculptra helps strengthen tissue without creating obstacles if injected correctly into the right plane. In my experience, Radiesse leaves behind barriers that make facelift dissection more difficult—so I avoid it.
